The Florence Flower Show Returns to the Corsini Garden: Florentine Autumn Blooms in the Greenery

On October 10 and 11, the Corsini Garden will host the Winter Edition of the Florence Flower Show. Two days featuring rare plants, botanical collections, crafts, talks, and activities for the whole family.

In Florence, autumn also carries the scent of plants, of leaves changing color, and of gardens that take on a different charm with the arrival of the new season. It is against this backdrop that one of the most eagerly awaited events dedicated to greenery in Florentine autumn returns: the Florence Flower Show.

For two days, from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., the historic garden at Via della Scala 115 will welcome nursery owners, growers, and collectors from across Italy. There will be approximately seventy exhibitors, offering a mix of botany, gardening, crafts, and that curiosity about less common plants that has become one of the event’s hallmarks over the years.

So this won’t be your typical opportunity to buy a few plants and head home: the Flower Show is above all a place to linger, look around, ask questions, and discover—where you can meet people who’ve been growing a particular species for years, ask how to keep it healthy, or let yourself be captivated by a variety you’d never even considered before.

The charm of plants you don’t find just anywhere

Among the stalls at the Corsini Garden, visitors will embark on a true journey through biodiversity: tropical, succulent, and carnivorous plants will be joined by orchids, bonsai, Japanese maples, and ornamental citrus trees. There will be heirloom and modern roses, aromatic plants, bulbs, perennials, and numerous other species sought after by enthusiasts and collectors. It is precisely this variety that makes the visit interesting even for those who don’t consider themselves experts: alongside the best-known plants, you can discover unusual species and hear stories, tips, and little cultivation secrets straight from the nursery owners.

When greenery enters the home, it does so through craftsmanship as well: the event will feature a selection of artisans from various Italian regions, showcasing artistic ceramics, outdoor accessories, botanically inspired objects, wickerwork, and natural textiles.

Part of the Flower Show’s charm lies precisely in theatmosphere that develops around these gatherings: it’s not just a trade show, but a place where the world of plants becomes an opportunity to discover people, passions, and crafts.

From Gardening to Creativity: Learning Hands-On

The program will be particularly rich thanks to the numerous free events organized throughout the weekend. For those looking to improve their gardening skills, there will be sessions dedicated to grafting, growing tropical plants, and the care required at different times of the year. Topics will also include sowing, flowering, and pruning, while rose enthusiasts can learn more about how to care for their plants during the winter.

There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss exotic species and tropical plants that, given the right conditions, can thrive even in home environments. Then there are events where gardening meets creativity. Floral design will take center stage in demonstrations and activities, alongside macramé workshops and the creation of miniature gardens. The program will also go beyond plant care, exploring the relationship between nature and well-being, the environment, and chromotherapy.

And for those who love discovering the most intriguing aspects of the plant world, there will also be sessions dedicated to cooking. Roses will be explored through their potential culinary uses, while a special section dedicated to chili peppers will highlight their flavors, aromas, and traditions.

A Flower Show to Enjoy with Children

The Corsini Garden will also be a family-friendly space. For children, nature will be all about play and discovery, with activities that allow them to explore the plant world through hands-on experiences and curiosity. Among the activities will be a nature treasure hunt, while on Sunday, October 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., visitors can meet alpacas and get to know these animals up close.

It’s a simple way to make the visit engaging even for the youngest visitors and, at the same time, to bring back into focus something that often gets lost in daily life: time spent outdoors and the chance to observe our surroundings up close.

The activities are free, with online registration and purchase of an admission ticket to the event. Those who wish may participate in multiple events over the course of the two days.

Hera Returns to the Giardino Corsini

The Hera Group, which sponsored the spring edition, has confirmed its support for the Winter Edition as well. At its dedicated booth, visitors can learn about Hera Comm’s offerings focused on energy efficiency and decarbonization, as well as initiatives designed for event attendees.

An Event to Mark on Your Calendar

There are many ways to experience Florence in October. You can visit a museum, get lost in the streets of the city center, or take advantage of the first truly autumnal days to explore its gardens.

The Florence Flower Show adds to these possibilities a small seasonal ritual filled with plants, encounters, and curiosities. And the Corsini Garden, with its intimate atmosphere and historical heritage, is probably the perfect place to experience it.

On October 10 and 11, all you’ll need to do is step through the gate on Via della Scala to find yourself surrounded by rare plants, flowers, crafts, and people who have turned greenery into a passion or a profession. You can look for a new plant to take home, ask how to save the one you already have on your balcony, participate in a workshop, or simply stroll around without necessarily having a plan.

Because, after all, that’s part of the beauty of the Florence Flower Show: it reminds us that caring for plants isn’t just about growing them, but about learning to look a little more closely at what’s growing around us.
