Autumnia is, first and foremost, a way of being together. In Figline, you don’t “visit” the fair: you experience it. You stroll through alleys that suddenly become squares, among stalls run by historic producers and young businesses from the Valdarno, among amber bottles of extra virgin olive oil and glasses of red wine full of promise. And in the streets of the town center, craftsmanship shines through the skilled hands of artisans who return to recount ancient trades, while sculptor Andre Iron transforms logs and wood chips into works of surprising movement, carved on the spot as a gesture of love for the nature that inspires him.

Autumnia never ceases to amaze. In the halls of Palazzo Pretorio, “Visioni Generative” (Generative Visions) comes to life, an exhibition that blends AI, memory, and landscape. A bridge between the past and the future created by Viktoria Blank and Emanuele Del Fio, artists from Figline who are bringing Valdarno to the international stage after receiving recognition at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival.
Then there are guided tours of the town’s historical sites, including churches, ancient apothecaries, and hidden theaters, itineraries that reveal an authentic and welcoming village, still far from mass consumption. And, as always, the Vicolo della Gentilezza (Alley of Kindness) returns: a card, a gift, a flower received in exchange. A simple ritual that reminds us that beauty is made up of small things, courtesy, and mutual respect.
