Eleonora Pieroni, an Italian actress with an international reputation, returns to the spotlight in cinema and television with two major projects.
Born in Italy but artistically “Made in America,” she will be at the center of two prestigious productions starting in February: in the movie theaters with The Contract, alongside Oscar winner Kevin Spacey, in his return to the big screen, and Eric Roberts; and on television in Italy’s longest-running and most beloved series, Un Posto al Sole, produced by Rai, alongside Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg, a special guest star for the show’s 30th anniversary.
For over ten years, Eleonora Pieroni has lived and worked in New York, immersed in the international jet set, bringing with her a deeply Italian elegance and education. Her artistic career began at a very young age in the world of fashion: she became the face of advertising campaigns, iconic covers such as Vogue America, New York Magazine, and La Sposa, and walked the international catwalks for major brands.
His work and friendships include Oscar winners such as director Paul Haggis (Crash), Denzel Washington, Jeremy Piven, Oscar-winning screenwriter Nick Vallelonga (The Green Book), Ivana Trump (his godmother), rappers Swizz Beats and Snoop Dogg, Maxwell, artists Domingo Zapata and Mark Kostabi, Chaz Palminteri, Oscar-winning actor and godfather to his son Michele York, born from his marriage to celebrities fashion designer Domenico Vacca.
Born in Foligno, Umbria, she graduated from Perugia with top marks in Education and Psychology. A finalist in Miss World Italy, she won Miss Blu Mare Italia and began her television career as a presenter on TEF Channel, a broadcaster in central Italy.
In 2013, her move to the United States marked a decisive turning point: Eleonora entered the world of American cinema and television with the program “I-Italy: tutto sugli italiani in America” (I-Italy: all about Italians in America), quickly becoming a recognizable presence at events, galas, and festivals in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. She participated in major US television productions, including Inside Edition, and music videos shot on Broadway for international stars such as Thalía (Non me Acuerdo, Sony production), Il Volo, and Gente de Zona (Emilio Estefan production), as well as Scusami by Stefano Del Bravo.
After graduating from the New York Film Academy, he began a solid international film career: he took part in “State of Consciousness” with Emile Hirsch, the series “Paper Empire” with Robert Davi and Denise Richards, and in Italy he worked with great masters and performers such as Pupi Avati (Dante, with Sergio Castellitto), Giorgio Colangeli (L’Oratore), as well as the Rai series “Stucky” and “Costanza”.
For her artistic and cultural commitment, Eleonora Pieroni was appointed by New York Mayor Eric Adams as “Ambassador of Made in Italy and Italian Culture in New York,” a recognition that seals her role as a bridge between two worlds.
Alongside her artistic career, Eleonora has been supporting associations against violence against women for years, including Save the Passage in New York and Women for Women. She received the “Italian Excellence” award in Washington and the “Woman for Peace” award at the Chamber of Deputies in Rome.
From Monday, January 26, for a few weeks, she will join the cast of Un Posto al Sole, alongside Whoopi Goldberg, who plays Eleanor Price, a wealthy American woman involved in the relaunch of Cantieri Ferri. She will be joined by two assistants, played by Tim Daish and Eleonora Pieroni, who plays Kate Wilson, her American personal assistant.
“I met Whoopi in New York, the city where I have lived for ten years,” says Eleonora Pieroni. “We met in Brooklyn, on the set of Godfather of Harlem, with my dear friend and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker. From the very first moment, Whoopi was extraordinary. She deeply loves Italy and told me that she would spend several months of the year here. In Naples, on set, she confirmed that she had chosen Ortigia as her new Italian home.”
In Un Posto al Sole, Eleonora plays a tender and ironic character:
“Her assistant is a little anxious, naive, torn between business documents and Rosa’s Neapolitan recipes, while trying to understand—with great difficulty—a few words in Italian and Neapolitan. Meeting on set was an epic moment. Not only because New York is the city that unites us, but because being next to an Oscar winner whom I have adored since I was a child, playing his American personal assistant, is a dream come true. Who would have thought that I would have to travel around the world to act with a Hollywood star… in Italy? When we saw each other, we hugged: it was deeply moving.”
In recent months, Eleonora has also taken part in the Rai series “Stucky” and ‘Costanza’, both of which were very well received by the public. “L’Oratore”, an intense story of redemption from the mafia filmed in Calabria, will soon be released in cinemas.
For the first time, Eleonora Pieroni also wrote, directed, and starred in the short film “Woman Evolution – L’evoluzione della donna”, made for Spoleto Gioielli, winning the award for Best Fashion Short Film and Best First Director at the Montecatini Short Film Festival.
