There is an Umbria that does not just produce wine.
It cultivates it as one cultivates an idea, a value, a promise.
It is Umbria that speaks through the Cantine Etiche project, a movement that has the courage to unite what often remains divided: people, businesses, visions.
In the green heart of Italy, five wineries have decided to overcome individualism to build a model of collaboration based on ethics, sustainability, and collective responsibility.
Thus, in 2022, Cantine Etiche was born, a network of businesses that transforms cooperation into culture, production into storytelling, and wine into an act of awareness.
This is not about marketing, but about humanity and vision: a written agreement between winemakers who believe that true excellence lies not only in taste, but also in the transparency of the journey that leads to the glass.
A project that emphasizes respect—for the land, for those who work it, for those who live on it—restoring dignity to slowness, value to care, and meaning to sharing.
Five wineries—the smallest being Collespino, followed by Marchesi Ruffo della Scaletta, Tenuta dei Mori, Santo Iolo, and Villa Bucher—united by an ethical contract that establishes common principles and objectives.
A Umbrian wine list, yes, but also a moral charter, written in the language of consistency and the future.
🍇 First stop: Tenuta dei Mori – between old mulberry trees and new visions
Umbria is not just to be looked at: it is to be breathed in and listened to.
And if there is one place where the breath of time meets the beat of innovation, that place is Tenuta dei Mori, the first stop on our journey through the Cantine Etiche.
We are in Villanova, between Todi and Assisi, Perugia, along the Strada dei Vini del Cantico (Wine Route of the Canticle).
Here, for over a century, the Vicaroni family has maintained an authentic connection with their land.
The name “Mori” comes from the mulberry trees that surrounded the old farmhouse, shady trees full of memories, under which people would stop to catch their breath after working in the fields.
An ancient, simple, and genuine gesture—just like the wine that is produced here.
In 2014, the estate embarked on a path of renewal, choosing to combine roots and modernity.
Twelve hectares of vineyards open onto clayey and silty hills, where native grape varieties—Sangiovese and Trebbiano Spoletino—coexist with international varieties such as Alicante and Vermentino, in a balance that tells the story of a land in dialogue with the world.
The clouds on the label are not an aesthetic quirk: they are a manifesto.
They represent the continuous connection between heaven and earth, between inspiration and practicality, between dreams and hard work.
A perfect symbol for the philosophy of Cantine Etiche, where each bottle is a bridge between generations, an act of love towards nature, a declaration of identity.
Visiting Tenuta dei Mori means immersing yourself in a landscape that evokes slowness and silence, but also renewal.
The large windows offer a “Leopardian” view of Umbria at its purest: hills that breathe, skies that change mood, and time that seems to return to a human scale.
Here, wine is tasted, of course.
But above all, it is listened to.
Because every glass tells the story of those who have chosen not to remain alone, to share their knowledge, to join forces to build a more just future.
Tenuta dei Mori — The elegance of authentic Umbria
Suspended between the silence of the Umbrian hills and the scent of the vineyards, Tenuta dei Mori stands in the green heart of Italy, like a place where time slows down and nature finds its voice again.
Here, hospitality is not just a welcome: it is an experience of balance, intimacy, and authenticity.
An agricultural and contemporary spirit
Spanning approximately 55 hectares of land, the estate began as a farm undergoing conversion to organic farming, where the land is cultivated with respect and dedication. The vineyards, olive groves, and grain fields alternate harmoniously, creating a living landscape in constant dialogue with the seasons. Since 2014, with the planting of a vineyard covering over 12 hectares, wine production has become an integral part of the project: a winery that blends tradition and research, where each bottle tells the story of the hill from which it comes.
Wine tourism is the beating heart of the estate, combining the pleasure of wine with the beauty of the stay.
Hospitality as an art of living
Six apartments, each furnished with taste and restraint, welcome guests in elegant yet familiar surroundings. The lines are clean, the materials authentic, the colors reminiscent of the earth and the Umbrian light. Every detail—from the natural wood to the fabrics, from the panoramic windows to the surrounding tranquility—contributes to creating a sense of home, without sacrificing comfort.
Outside, the panoramic infinity pool overlooks the vineyards, a reflection of water that blends into the horizon. A terrace overlooking Perugia, which is well worth a visit, invites contemplation and tastings of class and quality, while the well-tended garden, free bicycles, paths through the vineyards, and light activities such as table tennis or soccer on the lawn complete the experience of relaxation and contact with nature. As do walks in the countryside, to the horse and donkey ranch, and why not… a family picnic on the grass!
For those who want a wellness break, there is a sauna, whirlpool, and relaxation center, in perfect harmony with the cozy and rejuvenating atmosphere of the estate.
The meaning of hospitality
At Tenuta dei Mori, hospitality is discreet, warm, and never intrusive. Guests are welcomed with the naturalness of someone opening their home: a smile, a glass of wine, a view that unfolds before your eyes like a promise of tranquility.
Far from the noise and rush of everyday life, the estate becomes a refuge for those seeking time, space, and authenticity—whether for a romantic weekend, a family vacation, or a retreat with friends.
Amid nature, elegance, and sharing
More than just a place to stay, Tenuta dei Mori is a way of experiencing Umbria: slow, sincere, sensory. It is the ideal setting for private events and exclusive weddings, thanks to its harmonious and private spaces, capable of combining refinement and warmth.
Every experience—a stay, a tasting, a celebration—becomes an encounter between the beauty of the landscape and the care of those who welcome you.
Among the rows of vines, at sunset, the light turns golden and the silence fills with life. It is in that moment that you understand what makes Tenuta dei Mori unique: the ability to make every guest feel part of a greater story, written in the land, in the wine, and in the gentle hospitality that only Umbria can offer.
Umbria as an ethical laboratory
The Cantine Etiche project represents the new frontier of conscious tourism: a way of traveling that seeks not only panoramas, but meaning.
It is Umbria that welcomes, teaches, and gives back.
A place where the elegance of wine meets the depth of values, and where every winery is a stop on an inner journey—as well as an enological one.
This journey begins at Tenuta dei Mori.
With the scent of mulberry trees, the tranquility of the hills, and a toast that tastes of choice, courage, and the future.
See you at the next winery….
