Father’s Day: a toast that speaks of character and tradition: Anima Solis Rosso from Casa Vinicola Fazio
For Father’s Day, there is a toast that speaks of character, tradition, and memory. It is Anima Solis Rosso, the label proposed by Casa Vinicola Fazio to celebrate an occasion that recalls the values of family and conviviality, those simple and authentic moments that take shape around the table.
Elegant and enveloping, Anima Solis Rosso is born in the hills surrounding Erice, in the heart of western Sicily, a territory where the sun, wind, and proximity to the sea shape the character of the vineyards and wines. Here, nature meets a winemaking tradition deeply rooted and passionately preserved by the Fazio family.
Founded in the 1970s, Casa Vinicola Fazio is now one of the most representative wineries in the Erice area. The company was born from the vision of Vito Fazio, who recognized the extraordinary potential of these hills overlooking the Mediterranean. With dedication and a pioneering spirit, over the years the family has transformed an agricultural project into a winery renowned for the quality of its wines, which are deeply rooted in their land of origin.
Today, the company is run by the second generation of the family, who continue to pursue the same philosophy: promoting the Erice area through careful, sustainable viticulture that respects the rhythms of nature. The vineyards extend between 200 and 450 meters above sea level, benefiting from a unique microclimate characterized by temperature variations, constant winds, and calcareous-clay soils, ideal conditions for growing highly expressive grapes.
This is the context in which Anima Solis Rosso comes to life, a refined blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Nero d’Avola that combines international and native grape varieties in a harmonious and contemporary balance. The result is a wine that manages to combine structure, elegance, and depth, while at the same time expressing the sunny soul of Sicily.
The care begins in the vineyard. The grapes are harvested manually between the end of August and the beginning of September and then left to dry in the fruit cellar for about 25-30 days, a technique that allows the aromas and structure to concentrate. After red vinification, the wine ages for about 12 months in French barriques, developing complexity, roundness, and finesse.
In the glass, it has an intense garnet red color. The bouquet expresses notes of ripe berries, cherry, and black cherry, enriched with elegant hints of spices, vanilla, and cocoa. On the palate, it is harmonious and enveloping, supported by velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish that invites conviviality.
A wine with a deep and sunny character, perfect to uncork to celebrate Father’s Day or to give as a gift to those who recognize the value of shared moments. Because, as is often the case with the most authentic wines, Anima Solis Rosso not only tells the story of a territory, but also the pleasure of sitting down at the table, toasting, and transforming a simple gesture into a memory.
Harmonious, elegant, enveloping. A great blend made from native and international varieties that stands out for its tannin texture, pleasant on the palate for its softness and elegant aroma. The grapes, harvested at the right degree of ripeness, are left to dry in the fruit cellar for about 25/30 days, then destemmed and vinified in red with traditional punching down to obtain maximum extraction from the skins. Careful élevage in second and third passage French barriques for about 12 months allows the wine to achieve roundness and structure.
Anima Solis Rosso from Casa Vinicola Fazio is characterized by a bouquet of ripe red berries, cherry jam and undergrowth, black cherry and spices, enriched by the pleasant presence of secondary aromas. A deep red, yet fresh in the fruit, recognizable and sunny.
Produced in approximately 6,000 bottles, Anima Solis Rosso pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, guinea fowl, and aged cheeses, making it the ideal companion for an important meal.
