Sport and health are now an undisputed combination. On the occasion of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina, an important meeting was held in Cortina d’Ampezzo, promoted by Cassa Galeno together with the top management of GVM Care & Research and LongLife Formula Spa.
The initiative, which we have already discussed in a previous article, provided an opportunity for high-profile discussion on the topics of prevention, health, and new models of medicine focused on quality of life.
The meeting was attended by Francesco Riva, head of external relations at Galeno and advisor to the CNEL, Ettore Sansavini, president of the GVM Group, and Lucia Magnani, administrator of LongLife. The joint presence of representatives from the healthcare, business, and institutional worlds fostered a constructive dialogue on the future of prevention policies and the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles as a strategic lever for the sustainability of healthcare systems.
The discussion focused on the recognition of physical activity as a fundamental tool for primary and secondary prevention of numerous chronic diseases.
Dr. Sansavini illustrated the GVM Group’s vision, “based on the creation of an innovative care model capable of integrating medicine, rehabilitation, and prevention, with an approach that is already recognized nationally and internationally.”
Dr. Magnani presented the LongLife model, based on a correct interpretation of oxidative processes and their impact on aging and health, emphasizing how the balance between lifestyle, nutrition, and movement is a key factor in long-term well-being.
Francesco Rivafinally drew attention to the importance of accompanying these issues with appropriate regulatory instruments, highlighting the need to introduce a bill on lifestyles promoted by the CNEL and its President Renato Brunetta at the legislative level.
What came out of this important meeting? Riva proposed the establishment, through the GVM Group, of a university training center in Sports Medicine in Cortina, at the Codivilla-Putti facilities.
The initiative would be part of the recent launch, in collaboration with the European University of Rome (UER), of the degree course in Medicine and Surgery promoted by the GVM Group, with the aim of strengthening specialist training in the field of sports and rehabilitation.
The proposal was widely supported by the participants, including internationally renowned sports doctors, confirming the common desire to transform Cortina not only into a symbol of sport, but also into a center of excellence for prevention, research, and training in the field of sports medicine.
This will lead to the creation of a working group dedicated to this project, with Cassa Galeno involved at the national level.
