Gelato By Patrizia: New York discovers gelato “with soul.” Where? At 23 West 23rd Street, in the heart of the city, now home to this story of courage, family, and creativity. Here, every flavor carries with it a piece of Patrizia’s journey—from the hills of Umbria to the food capital of the world.
In a world where everything moves fast, there is still room for an ancient gesture: transforming simple ingredients into a moment of pure happiness. This is the heart of Gelato by Patrizia, the project created by gelato chef Patrizia Pasqualetti, who brings to New York the refinement of an all-Italian art—made of tradition, creativity, and absolute respect for nature.
Gelato by Patrizia is not just an ice cream shop: it is an invitation to slow down, savor, and remember.
“Ice cream is not just a dessert: it is a memory, a feeling, an act of love for the earth,” says Patrizia in the presentation of her project, and it is precisely this philosophy that has led to her success.
From the hills of Umbria to the United States: the story of a master gelato maker
Patrizia inherited her art from her father Giuseppe, who opened the first gelato shop in Orvieto in the 1980s. From there, a story of family passion that defied expectations began when she and her sister Gabriella decided to enter a sector considered “for men.”
Collaborations with Heinz Beck and Fendi add prestige and contemporary vision, consolidating a style in which tradition embraces innovation.
The next step is transatlantic: Patrizia brings her talent to the United States, becoming the head of La Gelateria di Eataly San Jose in 2022 and paving the way for locations in Los Angeles, Boston, and New York.
The philosophy: real ingredients, creative intuition, pure emotion
Being a true gelato chef means: “respecting ingredients, honoring tradition, and embracing innovation.”
Patrizia’s gelato knows no shortcuts: real fruit, selected dried fruit, authentic milk, and a technique that aims for perfect harmony between texture, sweetness, and temperature.
Her “secrets,” listed in the dedicated section, say it all:
- Pure ingredients
- Authentic flavors
- Tradition and innovation
- Healthy options
- And above all: heart in everything she does
Her signature is her ability to create flavor through imagination, a rare talent that makes each creation instantly recognizable.
Iconic creations: when gelato becomes an experience
New Yorkers finally have a true gelato maker. This opening brings with it some of Italy’s most imaginative gelato creations, many of which have never been seen before in New York.
His approach is based on quality—real fruit, real nuts, real milk, and carefully selected raw ingredients—combined with the belief that gelato is an expressive culinary medium.
Blending classic Italian traditions with unexpected creativity, it creates refined and emotional flavors and formats, its most creative creations blurring the line between dessert and art, including:
• Gelato Sandwich — Italian focaccia stuffed with cold artisanal gelato
• Affogato with Raspberry Cream — velvety gelato kissed by warm raspberry
• Gelato Croissant — a luxurious Italian pastry filled with creamy gelato
• Bombolato — a warm sugar-coated doughnut with cold gelato
• Frozen Atelier — miniature, jewel-like pieces of gelato, designed as edible works of art
In addition, Patrizia is launching hands-on ice cream making classes this season, offering New Yorkers a unique and limited opportunity to learn the craft directly from a master.
“Every creation is the result of study, experience, and an almost artisanal dedication,” says Patrizia.
