There are anniversaries that do more than just mark the passing of time: they light it up.
The Borgo del Balsamico celebrates Christmas by combining it with the brand’s twentieth anniversary, and it does so with a tribute that tells its story, its land, and the poetry of gestures handed down through the generations. This is how the Condimento del Ventennale was born: a precious condiment, made from cooked must, a slight presence of wine vinegar, and the bright touch of apple must.
A romantic echo of what was once prepared slowly, with care and love, in the farmhouses of Emilia: the “saporetto,” a domestic secret of apples and pears left to cook until they became liquid memory.
Today, this new condiment renews that spirit, enhancing soft and aged cheeses, fruit, and meats: a delicious companion, designed for those who recognize the subtle sweetness of things done well.
Making this anniversary even more special is the delicate touch of Munich artist Steffi Bauer, who captures the soul of the Borgo with her romantic watercolors. The collaboration with her began as memorable encounters do: by chance, during a stay at Dimore, and has continued over the years with drawings, bottles, and flowers that speak the same language of emotion.
To complete the Christmas story, three gift ideas that capture the artist’s poetic touch:
- The porcelain spoon, made entirely by hand in Italy: a small, elegant tool for savoring Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia PDO as a ritual.
- The organic cotton shopping bag, which carries with it the unmistakable style of the Borgo.
- The gift box, designed as an embrace of taste, design, and tradition.
A twenty-year journey, led by two women and a vision
Twenty years ago, Cristina and Silvia Crotti took over the family’s ancient vinegar factory and transformed it into a female-led, international company.
Il Borgo del Balsamico, founded in 2004 and built on the deep roots of their father’s work, has become a small jewel of Italian gastronomy, capable of preserving tradition while reinventing it.
Today, production takes place in a facility that houses around 400 oak barrels and large vats. Here, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia PDO matures patiently, passing from barrel to barrel, like a story that refines over time.
Aesthetics have always been the hallmark of Borgo: a visual language that combines elegance, modernity, and memory, inspired by the family’s history in the world of fashion (Maska). The result is a color code that guides consumers with a gentle and intuitive logic: yellow, orange, and red to describe refinement and uses in the kitchen.
Le Dimore del Borgo: a place that welcomes, tells stories, and enchants
After ten years in business, Cristina and Silvia opened the family estate to travelers. Le Dimore del Borgo are rooms that smell of memories, furnished with family furniture and an intimate, eclectic design. Here you can experience the true soul of the Emilia region through visits, tastings, and the quiet discovery of the secrets of balsamic vinegar, immersed in a landscape that seems to speak.
Today, Borgo del Balsamico offers a range of excellent products—from Traditional DOP to Condiments in three refinements, to Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP—all made with natural ingredients, without additives, and accompanied by contemporary and refined packaging.

A journey of taste that has conquered over 15 countries around the world.
