Japan in Rome, from above: Hiromi La Terrazza is born
A new rooftop in the heart of the capital where Japanese culinary tradition meets contemporary design and the view stretches over the rooftops of Monti.
Rome welcomes a new experience dedicated to Japanese culture: Hiromi La Terrazza, the new opening of the Hiromi group located on the rooftop of the 77 Hotel, in the charming Monti district.
After the success of Hiromi Cake, the capital’s first Japanese pastry shop, and Hiromi La Maison, which over the years has become a reference point for Japanese cuisine and sake culture, the Hiromi project takes another step forward with a space that combines haute cuisine, atmosphere, and urban views.
Hiromi La Terrazza was created with a specific idea in mind: to offer a refined and contemporary experience where Japanese gastronomic tradition dialogues with the beauty of Rome, in an elegant and delicate setting, suspended between culture and conviviality.
Ambience and hospitality
The rooftop seats around seventy guests, distributed across different areas designed to offer different ways of experiencing Japanese cuisine.
The main dining room, dominated by the open sushi counter, allows guests to observe the chefs at work and immerse themselves in the precision and rituality of the preparation. Next to it, a more private area guarantees an intimate atmosphere, while the tatami area invites guests to enjoy dinner in the Japanese tradition, seated on soft cushions.
The design reflects Hiromi’s aesthetic identity: bonsai, floral wallpaper, and refined details interact with the large panoramic windows that open onto the rooftops of the Monti district and the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, offering a unique view.
In the summer, an exclusive outdoor table will offer an even more intimate and privileged experience.
At the entrance, an elegant sake bar welcomes guests and introduces them to the cultural heart of the experience. The dining room is managed by director Fiammetta Oliverio, who supervises the reception with care and sensitivity.
The gastronomic offering
The cuisine at Hiromi La Terrazza celebrates sushi and traditional Japanese specialties, with a selection that changes daily to highlight freshness and seasonality.
The menu offers carpaccio, gyoza, sashimi, tartare, nigiri, uramaki, and temaki, alongside more sophisticated creations such as the wagyu roll, designed for those who want a more intense gastronomic experience.
The wine list features about forty labels, with a predominance of whites and sparkling wines ideal for accompanying Japanese cuisine.
Particular attention is paid to sake, whose selection is curated by sake sommelier Roger Acosta and organized into three categories—Umami, Aroma, and Harmony—designed to create perfect harmonies with the dishes.
The offering is completed by original cocktails based on sake and Japanese spirits, which reinterpret tradition with a contemporary touch.
Opening hours and tea ceremony
Hiromi La Terrazza is open every day for aperitifs and dinner, with plans to extend opening hours to include lunch in the near future.
In the afternoon, the rooftop will host one of the most evocative moments in Japanese culture: the tea ceremony, served on tatami mats and in kimonos, offering guests an authentic experience that combines gastronomy, ritual and culture.
The dining room is expertly and elegantly guided by Fiammetta Oliverio, a central figure in the development of Hiromi’s restaurant project, ensuring a recognizable standard of hospitality even in a different setting.
The Hiromi brand
The Hiromi project was launched in Rome in 2018 with Hiromi Cake, the capital’s first Japanese pastry shop. In just a few years, the brand won over the public and became a national benchmark, with locations in Milan and Florence and a network of over 200 restaurants throughout Italy supplied by the brand’s laboratories.
In September 2023, Hiromi La Maison came to life, conceived as the project’s headquarters: a space that is at once a restaurant, research laboratory, and cultural venue, dedicated to Japanese pastries, Kansai cuisine, and a selection of sake. Courses, tastings, and meetings are held here, transforming gastronomy into a complete cultural experience.
With the opening of Hiromi La Terrazza on the rooftop of the 77 Hotel in Monti, the Hiromi project takes on a new dimension: a multifaceted journey ranging from high-end pastries to contemporary cuisine, to immersive experiences in Japanese culture.
A gastronomic and cultural universe that now looks down on Rome from above, confirming the identity and consistency of a brand that is unique in the Italian landscape.
