There are men who speak to the earth and others who listen to it.

Leonardo Manetti belongs to both categories: he is a winemaker and poet, a true son of the hills of Greve in Chianti, where every dawn has the scent of must and the silence that precedes words.

Born in Florence in 1981, Manetti has built his life between the vineyards of his family’s estate and the verses he writes with the same respect with which he caresses a bunch of ripe grapes.

The soul of Chianti between wine and words

His language is born from the earth, simple and profound at the same time.

His poems speak of seasons, ancient gestures, and that secret correspondence between man and nature that only those who live immersed in the rhythm of the fields can truly understand.

I write to recount real life with the same wonder and innocence we had as children. There is an ever-increasing need for poetry to be happy and seek serenity,” explains Manetti.

And it is precisely this authenticity that makes him unique: a poet capable of staying close to people, of transforming work into art and art into a way to breathe again.

His style, free of lofty or distant tones, has a popular and universal feel. It is poetry that does not teach, but accompanies; that does not judge, but recounts. Alongside writing, Manetti cultivates painting, theater, and a personal blog in which he weaves together thoughts, images, and moments of everyday beauty.

“The eternal hours of waiting”: the return of the poet-farmer

After four years of editorial silence, Leonardo Manetti returns with a new collection: “Le ore eterne dell’attesa” (The Eternal Hours of Waiting), published by Edizioni We.

A title that evokes time, desire, and presence—and which brings together poems born of a long process of revision and selection, dedicated to those who know how to allow themselves moments of introspection and emotional truth.

Love is the common thread running through the entire work: it begins as a doubt that undermines certainties, grows as a force that disrupts and regenerates, until it becomes vital chaos, capable of illuminating and hurting.

A feeling that gives and takes away, that empties and fills, until one realizes that one is an essential part of the other’s existence.

The collection is divided into three movements, like a symphony of the heart:

  • A life that is not life – The story of an orderly but empty existence, where the lack of love extinguishes the light of the days.
  • The days of love – Discovery and search, devotion to a feeling that seems as close as it is elusive.
  • The eternal hours of waiting – Fulfilment, when love manifests itself through a face, an encounter, a revelation that redeems and leaves a mark.

In this poetic journey, love becomes the measure of existence, a place of loss and rebirth, a presence that endures even in silence.

A poet of roots

Raised in the heart of the Gallo Nero, Manetti studied Viticulture and Oenology, combining his work as a winemaker with a poetic journey that unites concreteness and feeling.

Since 2010, his poems have appeared in anthologies and literary magazines, leading him to participate in important awards and cultural projects.

In 2017, his voice became stone in the “Parole di Pietra” (Words of Stone) project in Campeda, where one of his poems is engraved forever in rock, symbolizing the link between words and the earth.

His works explore the relationship between man and nature, the beauty of slowness, and the value of roots.

With an accessible and authentic style, Leonardo Manetti is committed to bringing poetry back to the people through books, events, and artistic collaborations that combine words, music, and wine.

Where wine becomes words

In the glass as in his verses, Leonardo Manetti seeks the same truth: the purity of emotions.

Each bottle, like each poem, is born from a slow and conscious gesture, from a desire for truth that smells of earth and time.

His message is clear: poetry can still speak to people’s hearts, just as a good wine can make them feel again.

Because ultimately — whether it’s a vineyard or a page — Leonardo Manetti cultivates the same thing: the authenticity of what remains.
