“Parthenope”: to mark the celebrations for the 2500th anniversary of Naples, a special project combining fashion, art, and artisan craftsmanship in a story of identity dedicated to the city and its mythological origins.
In the heart of the historic center, at number 23 Via Santa Chiara, last Sunday Holy Caftan officially opened the doors of its new concept store and celebrated the event with “Parthenope,” a capsule collection inspired by the siren who, according to myth, gave rise to the city of Naples.
A precious and symbolic micro-collection, consisting of three limited edition pieces:
– The Parthenope sculpture bag, with a ceramic handle modeled and hand-painted by artist Vanessa D’Angelo;
– The Cuma shirt, made of 100% natural linen gauze, embellished with handcrafted embroidery dedicated to Parthenope and Ulysses;
– The Collo Marinaro, in white linen, embroidered with the sirens Ligea and Leucosia.
Three creations that combine design, research, and high craftsmanship, embodying Holy Caftan’s philosophy: transforming the tradition of Campania embroidery and weaving into narrative garments, capable of allowing the history and imagery of Naples to be “worn.”
The presentation of the capsule collection, which took place on Sunday, December 21, the symbolic date of the city’s “birthday,” was an opportunity for the new workshop space to be transformed into an immersive installation, a visual dialogue with the colors of the gulf and the iconographic heritage of Naples. Alongside Gabriela Fluss Tramontano, founder and creative director of the brand, Vanessa D’Angelo was present to recount the process of creating the sculptural handle of the Parthenope bag.
The project is also an opportunity for the official presentation to the public of the boutique-laboratory, strongly desired by Gabriela Fluss Tramontano: a physical place where a sartorial story born from textile archives, historical embroidery, and years of exhibitions in Italy and abroad can be told.
In Via Santa Chiara, Holy Caftan weaves fashion, embroidery, and local craftsmanship into a narrative that is entirely Campania, contemporary, and authorial.
“In southern Italy, embroidery is a heritage of care and knowledge that simply asks to continue to make its voice heard,” says the designer. “It can be delicate or textured, geometric or pictorial: nothing like embroidery makes a garment unique and recognizable.” Holy Caftan carries on this vision thanks to its collaboration with various local artisans.
Holy Caftan
Founded in 2013 by Gabriela Fluss Tramontano, born in Sorrento and designer for several Milanese haute couture fashion houses, Holy Caftan is an artisan fashion brand dedicated to rediscovering the traditional trousseau of Southern Italy and embroidery on linen and cotton. Through a network of local artisans and producers, it transforms textile archives, art references, and Mediterranean myths into narrative, unique, and exclusive garments. Each collection is born from dialogue with a “widespread creative community” and focuses on transparency, traceability, and quality. The caftan—and its derivatives—thus becomes an essential travel wardrobe, authentic and deeply connected to the memory of places.
