Sold out for “Il Sindaco Pescatore” with Ettore Bassi: an evening of civic theater in support of the orphans of femicide, saw theTeatro Politeama in Prato packed for the show staged on December 3 in favor of the Edela association, an association committed to supporting the orphans of victims of femicide throughout Italy.
The initiative, sponsored by the Province of Prato and organized by Rewind Project, attracted a moved and engaged audience, transforming the memory of Angelo Vassallo into a living commitment to the community. Young people were particularly enthusiastic participants, thanks in part to sports associations such as FC Pistoiese, Galcianese, Montemurlo, and Aglianese Calcio, as well as Club delle Pagliette, which immediately embraced the initiative.
During rehearsals, the President of the Province and Mayor of Montemurlo, Simone Calamai, symbolically handed over the mayor’s sash, thus maintaining the tradition that a local administrator passes the tricolor sash to the actor for the duration of the theatrical performance, in order to transcend the Mayor Pescatore, a symbol of sacrifice and good politics.
Ettore Bassi: “The Prato community makes the message even stronger.”
The actor, famous on the small screen for successes such as the TV series “Carabinieri” and involved in civil theater for years, expressed his enthusiasm for the warm welcome he received from the Prato audience.
“Bringing this show to Prato is a very important opportunity for me, because I know that the audience here has a particular sensitivity,” emphasizes Ettore Bassi. “In this case, socially engaged theater not only tells the story of Mayor Angelo Vassallo, but transforms memory into a living commitment, capable of shaking consciences. I was convinced that in Prato we could share this lesson in courage and civic responsibility in a very special way, and so it was. The participation of so many young people bodes well.
“Civil theater has the power to transform memory into awareness, pain into hope,” continues Bassi. “The beauty of this story lies in the fact that its messages do not end with the show, and I am convinced that every Prato resident who participated tonight took something home with them.”
The organizer of the evening, Giacomo Coppola (Rewind Project), also expressed great satisfaction with the outcome of the evening:
“This initiative is an important demonstration of solidarity for Edela,” says Coppola. “The partnership that will take shape with this show is touring Italy, bringing with it a message of hope and justice, supported by many personalities from the world of entertainment and sport. Prato has responded beautifully, and we are all very proud. It will benefit those who need it most.”
Roberta Beolchi (president of Edela): “This show reveals what silence hides,” said the president of Edela, who for ten years has been supporting the orphans of victims of femicide with the association. She expressed her deep happiness at the city’s response and how the show touched the hearts of the audience.
“This show, through the words of Ettore Bassi and the power of Angelo Vassallo’s character, manages to do what our work often tries to do: talk about what silence hides,” says Beolchi. “Seeing the Politeama Theater full, seeing people moved and aware, means that the message of dignity and legality really gets through. For Edela, an evening like this is not just a fundraiser, but proof that civil society still believes, dreams, and hopes for the future of others and, above all, that these young people deserve a future.”

Chiappinelli then emphasized his thanks to the sponsors and partners:

The event, sponsored by the Province of Prato, was organized by Rewind Project, in collaboration with Lions Club Toscana, Distretto Leo 108A, The Gram Journal, White Radio, Confcommercio Prato e Pistoia, Fondazione Ami Prato, White Radio, Teatro Tv – La cultura sul Web. It also saw the collaboration of the Aglianese, Galcianese, and Montemurlo soccer teams, and the participation of the Club delle Pagliette.
The show’s sponsors included Big Mat Alfaedil, I Vivai, Belfor, Gruppo GMG S.p.A., and Mercedes Benz.
The proceeds will be donated to the non-profit association Edela, in support of orphans of femicide.
