Prevention, well-being, and longevity: the Galeno initiative in Cortina

“With a healthy lifestyle, both athletes and citizens can preserve their mental and physical well-being, preventing chronic diseases and opening themselves up to a long life expectancy.”

This is how Professor Francesco Riva, representative of Cassa Galeno, illustrated the objective of the initiative dedicated to prevention, well-being, and longevity, scheduled for February 21, 2026, in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Sport and health take center stage during Milan-Cortina 2026

In the context of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, where sport and health become central pillars for the community, a meeting will be held promoted by Galeno, the mutual aid society founded by doctors for doctors.

Galeno has always been committed to spreading the culture of prevention and works to contribute to reducing the pressure on the National Health System in the long term, thanks in part to a widespread network of affiliated facilities throughout Italy.

The role of prevention and family protection

“Galeno cares about the health of its members, doctors, and their families,” emphasized Professor Riva, Head of External Relations at Cassa Mutua and advisor to CNEL.

Through the Galeno Family system, the importance of prevention and continuity of care is reinforced, extending also to the children of healthcare professionals.

Physical activity as a tool for health

During the Winter Olympics, physical activity is promoted not only as an expression of sporting excellence, but also as a tool for prevention and recovery.

A prime example is Federica Brignone:

“Her second gold medal demonstrates how advanced surgical techniques and muscle recovery programs are today. Champions can return to their former glory.”

Long Life Formula and longevity medicine

Lucia Magnani, creator of the Long Life Formula method, will also be present at the meeting.

The initiative stems from a project developed in the laboratories of the GVM Care & Research group, one of Italy’s leading private healthcare groups, which also includes the hospital in Cortina.

The facility has joined the program by integrating:

  • alpine traumatology
  • prevention programs
  • longevity programs

A model of healthcare excellence

The Cortina hospital—which includes the historic Codivilla Institute—is one of Italy’s leading facilities in the sector.

The facility was recently visited by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, who was welcomed by Ettore Sansavini, President of GVM Care & Research.

An innovative project against cellular aging

During the meeting, an innovative scientific method will be presented that studies:

👉 cellular aging

👉 its causes

👉 intervention through lifestyle correction

The program is based on the analysis of oxidative stress and includes personalized protocols that integrate:

  • nutrition
  • physical activity
  • specialist medicine

The objectives of the event

The initiative aims to generate a concrete impact on public health through:

✔ reduction of diseases linked to unhealthy lifestyles

✔ education and awareness

✔ promotion of physical activity

✔ dissemination of healthy eating habits

At a time when medicine can no longer limit itself to treating illness but must learn to anticipate it, the Cortina initiative is part of a broader vision: that of health built every day through conscious choices, exercise, nutrition, and a culture of prevention.

An approach that combines sport, science, and individual responsibility, transforming longevity from a theoretical aspiration into a concrete and shared goal.
