“MAESTRO OF COLORS”: THE ARTEMISIA BAR AT THE SAVOY HOTEL CELEBRATES THE GENIUS OF ROTHKO WITH A NEW ART-INSPIRED COCKTAIL LIST
Minimalism, color, pure emotion.
This spring, the Hotel Savoy in Florence pays tribute to one of the great figures of contemporary art, Mark Rothko, with a brand-new cocktail list that transforms mixology into an artistic experience.
To mark the exhibition dedicated to the master of abstract expressionism, hosted at Palazzo Strozzi from March 14, Bar Artemisia presents “Maestro of Colours,” a new drink list created by Bar Manager Federico Galli. The project is the result of a collaboration between art and signature mixology, celebrated in the refined and intimate setting of Bar Artemisia, created by legendary mixology master Salvatore Calabrese.
Here, the bartender’s gestures become a creative act, and each cocktail is transformed into a liquid canvas capable of evoking the emotional intensity of Rothko’s paintings.
The new menu offers four creations, each inspired by an iconic work by the artist. Vibrant colors, deep contrasts, and refined ingredients come together in drinks that first strike the eye and then the palate, offering a multisensory experience where art can be sipped.
Almost a year after its inauguration, the Bar Artemisia confirms its status as one of the most fascinating venues on the Florentine mixology scene, inviting guests and enthusiasts to experience an evocative dialogue between contemporary art, taste, and atmosphere in the heart of the city.

Red Horizon
(Inspired by Untitled Red and Yellow, 1952)
Rum, spices, yerbito, and red wine come together in an intense and enveloping cocktail that recalls the chromatic depths and energy of Rothko’s reds.
Nocturne Vermillon
(Inspired by Untitled Red and Black, 1953)
An elegant combination of blackberry foam and Negroni – with Campari, Vermouth Mancino Amaranto, and Tanqueray gin – for a sophisticated drink with bold contrasts.
Golden Silence
(Inspired by Untitled Yellow and Blue, 1954)
Bright and harmonious, it combines Venturo aperitif, Altamura Vodka, lemon, and peach nectar, evoking the sunny and contemplative atmospheres of Rothko’s palette.
Milky Light
(Inspired by Untitled White Center, 1950)
A delicate and surprising non-alcoholic option with lavender, Real Coconut Cream, and passion fruit: a soft and velvety balance, like a canvas suspended in light.
Because, just as in Rothko’s works, even a cocktail can conceal an emotion capable of lingering.
