Opened on November 15, the White Truffle Market Exhibition of the San Miniato Hills in San Miniato will run until November 30, 2025, celebrating the white truffle in an exhibition that showcases Tuscan flavor, tradition, and beauty. Three weekends to discover a unique area in the heart of Tuscany.
A scent that tells the story of Tuscany
There are places that smell of history and earth. San Miniato, a village nestled between Pisa and Florence, is one of them: a place where time passes slowly, among golden hills, damp woods, and alleys that smell of freshly baked bread and truffles.
In 2025, the White Truffle Market Exhibition of the San Miniato Hills will reach its 54th edition, bringing with it the charm of a tradition that unites communities, excellence, and an entire region.
Presented at the Media Center Sassoli in Palazzo del Pegaso, the event was attended by leading institutional figures: the president of the Regional Council Antonio Mazzeo, the president of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani, the mayor of San Miniato Simone Giglioli, the deputy mayor Azzurra Bonaccorsi, and the president of the Fondazione San Miniato Promozione Azzurra Gronchi.
All together to talk about an event that is much more than a fair: it is a celebration of taste, landscape, and Tuscan identity.
The Colline Sanminiatesi, an area that encompasses thirty municipalities between the province of Pisa and the Metropolitan City of Florence, come together to tell a single story of gastronomic excellence, culture, and hospitality.
Where the White Truffle of San Miniato comes from
Among woods, vineyards, and medieval villages, the San Miniato Hills hold a secret that nature reveals only to the most patient: the Tuber Magnatum Pico, the prized white truffle.
It was in this land that, in 1954, the world’s largest white truffle was found, weighing 2.520 kg, a record that still today contributes to making San Miniato a legendary name on the international gastronomic scene.
The temperate climate, clay soils, and abundance of oak and poplar trees create the perfect balance for the growth of this underground treasure. Here, every autumn, an ancient ritual is renewed: truffle hunters and dogs silently traverse the woods in search of Tuscany’s most precious scent.
Ambassadors of Taste 2025
As per tradition, the Market Exhibition elects its Ambassadors of the White Truffle of San Miniato, personalities who contribute to spreading Italian culinary culture around the world through their work.
In 2025, the award will go to Davide Paolini, journalist and founder of “Gastronauta,” and Luca Bracali, internationally renowned photographer and filmmaker, winner of the Portrait of Humanity Award in 2019.
Over the years, this award has been given to figures such as Oscar Farinetti, founder of Eataly, Ofelia Passaponti, Miss Italy 2024, and sporting legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Francesco Totti, and Gianluigi Buffon.
Each name represents a different ambassador with a single mission: to bring the aroma and prestige of the white truffle from the San Miniato hills to the world.
San Miniato: a village that smells like a party
During the three weekends of the exhibition, San Miniato is transformed into an open-air center of taste.
Over 100 exhibitors will enliven the squares and loggias of the historic center—from Piazza del Popolo to the Loggiati di San Domenico, to Piazza Dante and Piazza Duomo—with excellent products from all over Tuscany.
The star of the show is the White Truffle of the San Miniato Hills, which can be purchased fresh or enjoyed in dishes offered in restaurants and dedicated dining areas.
Alongside it, DOCG wines, artisan cheeses, Tuscan cured meats, and traditional desserts showcase the richness of a region that has made good food a way of life.
Strolling through the streets of the village during the exhibition is a sensory experience: the scent of truffles mingles with the aroma of wine, the sound of accordions blends with the voices of local producers, and the roofs of San Miniato are tinged with the warmth of the Tuscan autumn.
