Il Sole 24 Ore brings the “Stati Generali della Cultura” to Florence

Fortezza da Basso Teatrino Lorenese 5

After its debut in Naples in June, Il Sole 24 Ore’s 2025 “Stati Generali della Cultura” (General States of Culture) continues its journey to the heart of Italy, stopping in Florence on Thursday, October 16. The city, a symbol of Italy’s artistic heritage and cultural vocation, becomes the stage for a shared reflection on the transformations taking place in the sector and its potential as a driver of development, innovation, and social cohesion.

Organized in collaboration with Firenze Fiera and the Region of Tuscany, the Florence event will bring together institutions, businesses, cultural operators, and academics for an open dialogue on the strategic role of culture in the country’s economy.

Three main themes will be at the center of the discussion:

  • The value of cultural sites as a driving force for vitality in local areas;
  • The role of major events in generating economic and relational opportunities;
  • The evolution of creative professions and cultural languages, between tradition and modernity.

The morning session, scheduled from 9:30 a.m. at the Teatrino Lorenese of the Fortezza da Basso (Viale Filippo Strozzi, 1) – with in-person and online participation – will also offer an in-depth look at the relationship between culture and creative manufacturing, with a specific focus on the fashion sector, the flagship of Italian excellence.

There will also be space for a discussion on the new forms of storytelling that are reshaping the way in which our cultural heritage, made up of stories, ideas, and identities, is shared and experienced by the public.

The event will be inaugurated by institutional greetings from the Mayor of Florence and the Metropolitan City, Sara Funaro, and the Director of Il Sole 24 Ore, Fabio Tamburini.

Guests and speakers include:

Lorenzo Becattini, President and CEO of Firenze Fiera Spa;

Laura Biancalani, General Manager of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation;
