Michela Ferriero, one of the most authoritative and recognizable voices in Italian bridal couture, is the ambassador of the Italian Design Institute (IDI). Creativity, sartorial technique, and visionary spirit: this is the signature of the designer who, with the fashion house that bears her name, has redefined the aesthetics of contemporary wedding dresses.
The appointment represents the meeting of two excellences that share the same mission: to preserve the tradition of Made in Italy while pushing design towards new horizons. The Italian Design Institute—a benchmark in the training of new generations of designers—recognizes Michela Ferriero as an inspirational model, a creator capable of translating Italian identity into an international style.
For Michela Ferriero, this new role is not only a recognition but also a commitment:
“To train, inspire, and promote the talents who will write the future of Made in Italy fashion.”
The designer’s vision: transforming the wedding dress into a work of design
The Michela Ferriero fashion house was born from over forty years of sartorial mastery, but it is with the designer that a new idea of bridal couture takes shape: a perfect balance between traditional craftsmanship, precious materials—lace, silk, handmade embroidery—and a modern, sensual, highly personal aesthetic language.
Her goal is clear: “to revolutionize the world of wedding dresses”, respecting Italian roots but daring with innovations that have made the brand an international benchmark.
Emblematic of this moment is the “Diva” 2026 collection, dedicated to Sophia Loren: a celebration of the timeless elegance of the 1950s reinterpreted with sculptural lines, contemporary details, and exceptional tailoring techniques. A collection that reaffirms the strength of Made in Italy in global couture.
A new dialogue between tailoring and training
Thanks to this appointment, Michela Ferriero will bring her creative method, her experience in the atelier, and her vision of design as an art form applied to the body to IDI. The institute thus reinforces its commitment to involving figures of excellence, capable of inspiring a new generation of designers through authenticity, competence, and the ability to innovate.
“Being chosen as ambassador for an institute that thrives on quality and creativity is a real honor for me. It is a recognition that I feel deeply and that drives me to enthusiastically share the values I believe in. We carry within us an incredible culture, a tradition that we have breathed since we were born.
Intuition and design, the interpretation of fabrics is in our blood, made up of bridal shops, seamstresses, pattern makers, the sea and the Mediterranean sun.”
— Michela Ferriero
MICHELA FERRIERO watched her grandmother, a seamstress, create tailor-made garments from an early age. She was fascinated and followed in her footsteps: at 16, she was already working in a bridal boutique, and at 18, she was managing the workshop and coordinating the seamstresses. At just 23, they decided to found the fashion house, a gamble with destiny that they won. They moved to Milan to acquire the skills they lacked and kept up to date on a daily basis. They thrive on novelty and love every little trend, reinterpreting it and bringing it to life.
Part of the LM Fashion group, the Michela Ferriero fashion house has been creating wedding dresses for over thirty-five years, characterized by a distinctive aesthetic, iconic mermaid shapes, and a unique combination of Mediterranean roots and continuous innovation. Selected materials, relentless research, and sartorial embroidery define the designer’s style, which is recognized worldwide.
LM Fashion is a leading group in the bridal sector, with an in-house team of 30 professionals and external collaborators highly specialized in the stylistic and technical fields. The company stands out for its quality, innovation, and commitment to sustainability: it has obtained ESG-SDGs certification for products in the Michela Ferriero line and the prestigious Know How Certification (KHC) for its sartorial method dedicated to the wearability of mermaid wedding dresses.
In a sector where a wedding dress is much more than just a garment: it is a story, an emotion, a promise, Michela Ferriero brings to the IDI not only talent and vision, but her most authentic idea of beauty: that which comes from the hands, the heart, and the courage to imagine what does not yet exist.
Her entry into the Italian Design Institute is not just an appointment: it is the beginning of a journey that combines creativity and knowledge, tradition and the future. A bridge that accompanies new designers towards the same spark that guides each of her creations: transforming a dream into form, and form into emotion.
