Countdown to the fifth edition of the event “Roma Breast Days – Rema Roma per la vita” (Rome Breast Days – Row Rome for Life), conceived and chaired by Professor Giovanni Dal Pra, UOC Plastic Surgery of ASL Roma1 General Director: Giuseppe Quintavalle. The event will be held on October 3 and 4 in Rome between the Sala Rossa del Foro Italico, the “Corsie Sistine” of the Monumental Complex of the Santo Spirito in Saxia Hospital, and the ever-present Tiber River. This year, Generali Italia is supporting and collaborating with the event, in full respect of the group’s values and mission in the field of health, partner for life.

This year’s event is sponsored by the Lazio Region, the Municipality of Rome, CONI, Sport e Salute, the Order of Malta, ASL Roma1, the Italian Rowing Federation (FIC), the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN), the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), and the Italian Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Sicpre).

The event consists of two major events: a scientific conference to discuss the latest research and a rowing regatta on the Tiber. These two events are designed to combine health, sport, and solidarity, focusing on breast cancer treatment and the importance of prevention and rehabilitation through sport.

This year, 20 all-female crews will participate, and for the first time, it will be a competitive event. The winning team will take home a Challenge Trophy, which will invest the institution represented with the title of Rema Roma per la Vita Champion for the entire year.

Friday, October 3, Sala Rossa, Piscine del Foro Italico

9:00 a.m. Opening of proceedings and scientific sessions of the Breast Days – Rema Roma per la Vita Congress

1:00 p.m. Presentation of the captains and crews participating in Rema Roma per la Vita, rowing regatta – Sala Rossa, Piscine Foro Italico

2:00 p.m. Historic headquarters of the Reale Circolo Canottieri Tevere Remo

Start of the rowing race on the Tiber, starting from the Galleggiante San Giorgio – Ponte Regina Margherita, Lungotevere in Augusta in front of number 28

Corsie Sistine Monumental complex of Santo Spirito in Saxia

6:00 p.m. Greetings from the authorities and inaugural messages, official opening of the congress

6:30 p.m. Regatta awards ceremony

The concert by the Navy Band, conducted by Maestro – Captain Antonio Barbagallo, will conclude the evening in the evocative setting of the Sistine Lanes.

Saturday, October 4

8:45 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Corsie Sistine Santo Spirito in Saxia – Scientific sessions

Honorary Presidents of the event are Valerio Cervelli, Director of Plastic Surgery, University of Rome Tor Vergata, Carlo Magliocca, past President of the Italian Society of Plastic Surgery, Daniele Masala, President of the Reale Circolo Canottieri Tevere Remo, Diego Ribuffo, Director of Plastic Surgery at the University of Rome La Sapienza, and Maurizio Valeriani, Emeritus Head of Plastic Surgery.

The Congress is now a well-established event that brings together in Rome the best medical experts in the treatment of breast cancer and the close-knit crew of an 8-oar rowing team competing in the regatta. The event perfectly represents the efforts of the multidisciplinary medical team of a Breast Unit to achieve the greatest victory: healing patients.

The testimonials are Simona Renata Baldassarre, Councilor for Culture and Equal Opportunities for the Lazio Region and captain of the crew, Isabella Rauti, Senator and Undersecretary at the Ministry of Defense and captain of the crew, Maria Spena, member of the Board of Directors of Sport e Salute, and Vincenzo Campagna, Director of the Military Polyclinic. Senator and Undersecretary at the Ministry of Defense, captain of the crew, Maria Spena, Member of the Board of Directors of Sport e Salute, Medical General Vincenzo Campagna, Director of the Military Polyclinic of Rome, and Gianluca Franceschini, Director of Breast Surgery at the Gemelli Polyclinic, Attilio Parisi, Rector of the Foro Italico University, and Paolo Barelli, President of the Italian Swimming Federation.

Also participating: Adriana Bonifacino, Head of Breast Cancer at IDI-IRCCS, representing the Fondazione Incontra Donna crew; Patrizia Frittelli, Director of Breast Surgery at the Gemelli Isola Hospital and crew captain; Annamaria Bianchi, Member of the Scientific Committee of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità and crew captain; Mimma Raffaele, Head of the Medical Oncology Unit at ASL ROMA 1 and captain of the crew, Emilia Migliano, Director of Plastic and Dermatological Surgery at San Gallicano and captain of the crew, Antonella Campanale, Executive at the Ministry of Health and captain of the crew.

Representing the Women of the Press will be journalist Claudia Cortegiani, captain of the crew, and actress Livia Bonifazi, captain of the Women of Entertainment crew.

Finally, Giovanna Coltelli, Director of the GNAMC Exhibitions Office, will be captain of the crew.

The race coordinator will be Angelo Montana, with the involvement of Rome’s rowing clubs: Reale Circolo Canottieri Tevere Remo, Circolo Canottieri Aniene, C.C. Todaro, C.C. Roma, C.C. Lazio, Circolo Ondina, Circolo della Rai, and Circolo Canottieri Tre Ponti.
